Kaskade’s most recent album, Automatic, released on September 25, provides his familiar, attention-grabbing appeal diverged with splashes of experimentation and genre blending. Many of the songs on the album are short, and feature a typical commercial EDM sound, consisting of heavy synths and electronic sounding drums, up-tempo and backed with a huge, catchy chorus. Some features shine more than others, and some sonic decisions were better executed, providing for an overall mixed emotion on the album as a whole project.

I finally paid a visit to Madison’s new restaurant and bar, HopCat. The establishment finished construction over the summer, opening July 17, and is already a successful business with six other locations. I wasn’t sure what to expect prior to making a visit, but I heard consistent hype about it so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have my own experience. Based on my experience, this new addition to the collection of downtown bars in Madison is in for a long, successful service to the Badger community.

Human history is very complex—as bright as it can be, it could also represent us to be the mere descendants of twisted minds as we repeat the regrettably depressing past. One of many moments predominated by this is the history of ethnic genocide. Today, another ethnic genocide deeply rooted in religious and ethnic conflicts in Myanmar is continuing to worsen. The Rohingya, a muslim minority group in a country which is predominantly Buddhist, is on the verge of another genocide at the hands of the Myanmar government.
