Taking a break from wrapping up the final track of his forthcoming EP—and whilst gathering sustenance at a Whole Foods in Indiana—long-time music producer Alex Botwin expressed his excitement for Paper Diamond's Madison debut this Thursday.

Let me be honest: I am pretty spoiled. Being your mother's only
daughter will do that to you.

Apparently, I have an inviting face.

It is hard to believe such serious guidelines underlie the
comparatively light-hearted atmosphere of Blue Lotus. Overhearing
banter between owner Rob Beyer and tattoo artists Seneca Marks and
Noah MacDonald could easily make clients forget they are in fact at
a tattoo shop and not a comedy club.

The first thing that meets the eye is a 200-gallon saltwater
aquarium. A range of blue tangs, reminiscent of "Finding Nemo," to
cleaner shrimp swim and scuttle about in a serene scene of coral
and neon swirls.

When it comes to the holiday season, prevalent visions of sugar
plum fairies dance about in the peaceful slumbers of young,
stressed college students, but now the UW-Madison community has a
chance to see these legends of Christmas lore come to life in
Madison Ballet's "The Nutcracker" at the Overture Center for the
Arts.

The Wisconsin men's basketball team (6-1 overall) suffered their
first blemish on the season Wednesday night in the finale of the
Big Ten-ACC Challenge, losing to the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels
60-57. They now turn their attention to Saturday's matchup with
in-state rival Golden Eagles as they welcome No 16. Marquette (6-0)

Trevor Powers' dreamy soundscape, Youth Lagoon, got off to a
great start Monday night at the High Noon and came to an even
stronger finish.

With the official kickoff of the holiday season a mere two days
away, I’ve realized it’s time to re-count my blessings. Enough
bitching about exams and projects, I’d like to take this
opportunity to reflect on all of the things for which I am
thankful.

Midwest hospitality is certainly not lost on Alex Schaaf, the
one-man band turned frontman for a trio.

My fellow concert fanatics will know what I’m talking about when
I say getting to the front row for some shows is no small feat.

The Madison Symphony Orchestra, housed in the Overture Center
for the Arts, is considered one of the best regional orchestras in
the country, and lucky for UW students, it is welcoming Badgers
with open arms.

If you liked "Happy Feet," you may get as excited as I am for
this Thursday's entertainment.

Phantogram comes back with what should have been their

Postpone those ""Halloween,"" ""Friday the 13th"" and other various
horror movie marathons just another week longer (except for maybe
""Hocus Pocus,"" since we all know that's getting
watched more than once anyway). The WUD Film committee
has got some flicks coming up for which you will not want to keep
your eyes covered—though tightly squeezing the hand next to you may
still be permissible.
(09/27/11 6:00am)
I think ASM is starting to over-do the whole ""voice
of the students"" thing. They have recently included this mantra
into their opposition statement to Memorial Union Reinvestment
(MUR) project, which will make renovations and
additions to Memorial Union in the coming months. But perhaps the
slogan would be more appropriate if ASM considered the
varied opinions of students.

Whatever you have planned for October, cancel it, because WUD Music
Committee has got your weekends covered for this month of the
monster mash.

In continuing last week's long explanation of the Wisconsin Union
Directorate's many opportunities for student involvement, I present
to you all: Part II, in which Jaime explains the rest of the crafty
committees. It's time to find your niche.

Despite countless weeks of touring, DJ and producer
Tiësto never fails to be hyped for an upcoming show,
and Madison's party at the Alliant Energy Center
