The shortened 2020 season was a frustrating one for redshirt sophomore quarterback Graham Mertz. After a freak ankle injury sidelined Jack Coan earlier last fall, Mertz dazzled in his first career start against Illinois in week one, a Friday night kickoff that had the eyes of the nation watching the young QB. The former four-star recruit connected on 20 of 21 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns, leading then-No.14 Wisconsin to a blowout win over the Illini.

Anticipation for the annual Mifflin St. Block Party has subsided in Madison, Wis. Thousands of crushed cans and shattered glass were all that remained Sunday morning as the students in attendance reeled from their collective “post weekend denial.” Public concerns regarding student safety and COVID-19 precautions are being raised in response to the large congregation of maskless children. However, these questions appeared insignificant and misguided in light of the heroic act that took place Saturday.

When it was introduced in 2017, the Badger Promise made it look as though UW-Madison was providing a major incentive for first-generation college students to call Madison home. The program, which originally offered two to four semesters of free tuition to first-generation college students transferring from two-year colleges around Wisconsin, is rumored to have been discontinued due to budget cuts and the fact that one of the university’s high ranking officials wants a new boat.

Out of all the things we do associated with food — shopping, cooking and eating — shopping is the least enjoyable for many. Driving to the store is the easy part. Once you get there, you white knuckle your cart around, trying to avoid hitting the children running around and being patient when someone parks their cart in the middle of the aisle. When you find everything you need, you wait for a while, then cough up your hard earned money before you drive home. Shopping is not the easiest food related task, but it is a necessary one. Below are some tips for what to purchase, and how to avoid doing what the store wants you to do.

Fifty minutes. That’s the amount of time that Sam Jorudd spent of his brief spring break in a meeting with the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s administration. As the Chair of ASM’s Grants Allocation Committee and a junior at UW, Jorudd had been working to ensure that the University properly allocated emergency relief grants to students. He and the UW BIPOC noticed that the University had received these funds, but not dispersed them.

As the weather becomes more pleasant and COVID-19 vaccinations continue to rollout, a surge in weekend festivities can be seen throughout Madison, Wisconsin. Naturally, these festivities include heavy substance abuse in true Wisconsin-fashion. This annual springtime trend can be seen in places such as the “Mifflin Slums,” where the melting snow is steadily replaced with debris from white plastic tables and crushed Natty Ice cans.

The Memorial Union announced today that students with a green Badger Badge will now be able to receive a free Meals, Ready-to-Eat. While meals are factory made and are not being distributed until the week of April 25, orders must be placed within the next week so that the packages can be sorted into boxes “when the vibe feels right” for the Union employees.

From “Parks and Rec” sensation to now director and critically acclaimed actress, Amy Poehler recently adapted the book “Moxie” into a Netflix original. Starring as the accomplished single mom to Vivian, a young junior in high school. The movie came out March 3, with a soundtrack of 90s alt rock feminist bangers and received a 68% on rotten Tomatoes with reviews highlighting its “on the nose” message and how it was right on time.
