Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Mary Burke releases first TV advertisement

Former Trek executive and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke released her first television advertisement Wednesday focusing on Burke’s ability to create jobs.

The 30-second advertisement said “Governor Walker’s Republican Governors Association” is spending over $1 million on advertisements attacking Burke’s job creation record. Burke’s advertisement responded by saying Wisconsin had 72,000 more jobs when Burke was the state’s commerce secretary.

The advertisement said Burke is working to reduce unemployment by strengthening the middle class.

Alleigh Marre, press secretary for Gov. Scott Walker, accused Burke’s campaign of distorting unemployment statistics, in a statement.

“Governor Walker’s record is clear. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been since 2008, we’ve seen over 100,000 new jobs created since he took office,” Marre said in the statement.

The Wisconsin gubernatorial election is scheduled for November.
