Colorado football Head Coach Gary Barnett testified to a Colorado University Board of Regents panel Tuesday for almost five hours in relation to allegations of inappropriate recruiting practices and player misconduct. The panel is investigating whether the Colorado football program uses alcohol and sex to lure recruits.
Barnett admitted to the panel that he believes ten Colorado athletes attended an off-campus party in which minors were provided with alcohol. Two women have also claimed that they were raped by football players at the party.
\There is no question in my mind that inappropriate behavior occurred,"" Barnett said. ""The behavior of the ten young people involved was the result of their own poor decisions and under the influence of alcohol.""
These two rape allegations are not the first ones to surface at the University of Colorado. Since 1997, at least six other women have accused Colorado University football players of rape, including former Buffalo placekicker Katie Hnida, who claims she was raped at the home of another Colorado player. Hnida is not pressing charges, but wanted the incident to be revealed in order to help the other alleged rape victims.
