Welcome to Chicago at its hippest. Okay, Chi-town is always pretty hip, but the metra is especially packed this weekend for Pitchfork Music Festival—three days of those bands that will probably be your favorite a year from now. But to keep our loyal readers ahead of the game, we’re providing coverage from the trenches.

Critics and music sites almost always classify the music of Brooklyn-based band The Men as punk or post-hardcore, but singer and guitarist Mark Perro said the band views their own music in much looser terms: friends playing whatever music they like.

This is the end! Despite our zombie-like trances after four days of intense ‘Rooing, we finished the trip solidly with a stellar Sunday lineup. We split up early in the morning to maximize coverage, with Jaime seeing Grouplove and Young the Giant and Marina heading to The Antlers and fun. We also both caught snippets of Ben Folds Five and Bon Iver as we crossed the field to various stages to fill up our Sunday.

On our second day of Bonnaroo debauchery we awoke in a sweaty haze as the first rays of sun broke through the screens of our tent and essentially turned it into an oven. Welcome to the farm.

After a surprisingly smooth entry into the gates of the third world country that is Bonnarro in Manchester, Tenn. we set up camp and set out to explore the farmland that will be our home for the next four days.

Playing away from Madison has not been kind to the Wisconsin men’s hockey team (8-14-2 WCHA, 13-15-2 overall) this season, but it will try to improve on its dismal road record this weekend as it travels north to face Bemidji State (9-12-3, 15-14-3) hoping to build momentum for the postseason.

Oh, what a long and winding road it has been… kidding, kidding!
I'll try to refrain from any road or journey similes, most of which
I already covered in my eighth-grade graduation speech. Even as I
sit here on the dirty-ass couch trying to piece together a cohesive
farewell column, I feel comfortable enough with my co-editors to
give a dramatic interpretation of my eighth-grade graduation
speech, embarrassing clichés and all. There are few people I'm
comfortable sharing such idiosyncrasies with, yet in this little
basement in Vilas Hall I've carved out a niche that I don't think
I'll be able to ever completely replace.
