Here’s a bit of fun trivia: Neill Blomkamp was once signed up to direct a film adaptation of the “Halo” series of video games alongside producer Peter Jackson. The funding for the project never really got off the ground (except for a mildly entertaining and well-filmed promotional short), and 20th Century Fox backed out before most of the filming had taken place.

Anyone who eats ice cream, eggs, mango or sweet potato is getting some of their necessary intake of Vitamin A. Even pumpkin pie contains Vitamin A. Because Vitamin A is found in many different foods, either naturally or supplemented, the consequences of not having enough are rarely a topic of discussion.

It’s not over. Although the second suspect of the Boston bombing has been captured and the first suspect is dead, we have a long way to go to recover from this most recent tragedy properly. The 19-year-old second suspect was found bloodied, hiding in a boat after an exhausting and intense manhunt. It is great he was captured, but now the hard work begins, such as determining the brothers’ primary motivations for the bombing.

Affirmative action is an issue that seems to continually pop up around the country. Just a few days ago, oral arguments were presented to the Supreme Court in the Fisher vs. University of Texas case. Essentially, this case is about a young white woman, Abigail Fisher, who was denied admission to the University of Texas and asserts she was given unequal treatment in the admissions process. This article does not intend to determine whether or not Fisher is right in her complaint against the university. Instead, this board would like to further examine a holistic view of how affirmative action is used in university admissions processes.

There are some who would say a particular atrophy attends modern rock n’ roll. It seems the genre is being saved at every turn (remember The Strokes? White Stripes?) from the pratfalls of progress, past and present, (commercial viability, disco, modern rock radio, the ineffable flux of time, etc.) and, in its ripeness, wastes away again. Of course, the argument’s bull, but for those non-avant garde fans in the audience, there’s always the tendency to look back.
