As of late, Wisconsin Republicans have been quite fond of
attempting to undermine and overturn the state's existing gun laws.
In many cases, conservative leadership has eagerly echoed the
nationwide claims of the NRA, placing firearms on equal footing as
democracy and free speech in defining what it means to truly be
American.

You are about to enter a dimension of sight and of sound - one
of sub-par basketball teams and of cramped seating areas. You are
about to enter ... the Wild Zone.

Being drunk at 4 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon seems defiant and
cool on a college campus that measures networking potential with
keg stand records and counts down the days until the Mifflin Street
Block Party every year.

Sophomore guard Teah Gant sunk two clutch free throws with just
seconds left to cap off a miraculous comeback Thursday night at
Chrisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich., defeating Michigan

We've all been there before. That awkward break between classes
when there isn't really enough time to run home but you want to get
food. But there really isn't anyone to eat with. Then you feel sad.
You mass text all of your friends to see where they are, if maybe
they have time for a fast sandwich at Subway or a burrito from
Chipotle. But after no replies, you just have to face the facts: No
one's around. Cue up the Psycho music because this is straight out
of a horror movie. It has to be everyone's worst nightmare - eating
alone.

Somewhere along the fine line between psychopath and psychic,
there exists a unique class of human beings commonly known as
college basketball coaches.

HOST: Welcome to the CNN War Situation Readiness Attack Panic
Room Election 2008. I'm Anderson Cooper, and tonight we're taking
you in-depth into the Wesconsin primaries, which have never
mattered before. For more, here's CNN Senior Political Analyst, and
my personal creepy doppelganger, John King.

The old dictum never mix business with pleasure"" always rang
true for me. History papers turn out worse if written with the TV
on (even if it was the History Channel), drunk calculus isn't as
much fun as it sounds, and my various attempts to write
academically about video games never went well; I'd end up having
to swear off both video games and academics for weeks.

I can't believe it is Valentine's Day already. Let the
self-loathing begin. But all jokes aside, I actually like this
holiday. The cards and the candy - obviously the candy - are all in
good fun. This year has been one wild ride, and it's also going to
mark my first Valentine's Day alone. But don't pity me everyone, it
took me a while to get to this place and I'm not about to allow
some candy hearts to get me down.

The Wisconsin softball team kicked off their season with a 2-3
record at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah, playing in
the complex where the baseball scene in High School Musical 2 was
filmed.

It is time to complete the triumvirate of commercialized winter
holidays. Three months ago, it began with Thanksgiving (slogan:
Force feed your loved ones name brand food""). Then came Christmas
(slogan: ""Buy your loved ones lots of expensive crap""). The final
commercialized holiday of winter is, of course, Valentine's Day
(slogan: ""Force feed your loved ones name brand chocolate and buy
them lots of lots of expensive crap"").

I convinced myself this semester was going to be the one. I set
my goals high and had all my supplies ready. No procrastinating, no
drawing doodles instead of taking notes and especially no selling
organs on the black market during lecture. It really throws off
your concentration.

It's 2008, but I'm still reeling from all the music of 2007.
Frankly, it's left me in an overwhelming stupor of underwhelmed
impressions.

I started dating when I was 15. Since then, I've had a slew of
boyfriends, flings, dinner dates and objects of my stalker efforts.
They've all been very different - I've dated tall guys, short guys,
smart guys, dumb guys, birthday clowns, liberals and even one
Republican.

To put it plainly and simply, I hate anything cheesy. Ask any of
my friends, and they'll all describe me the same way. I can't watch
romantic comedies, the prospect of a heart-to-heart deep-feeling
talk sends me running in the opposite direction, and if anyone
drops a bad pick-up line around me I leave the bar immediately.

A year ago, I had the great honor, privilege and luck of being
able to fly with the Green Bay Packers to their game in San
Francisco (my dad won a contest at work and picked me over my mom).
Sometime between the crab dinner and the personal police escort to
the game, I remember thinking how nice it would be if the Packers
could win a few games down the stretch for Brett Favre and send him
out on a winning note.

Even though Emile Hirsch dies at the end of Into the Wild,"" I
found myself leaving the theater strangely enamored. Deciding to
attribute this eroticism to Emile's on-screen charisma and
willingness to do full-frontal, instead of, say, a budding case of
necrophilia, I confronted my boyfriend Jeff about the possibility
of making ""the list.""

There is so little for Americans to believe in these days.
Sadly, on Nov. 30 we lost one more reason to believe. His name was
Robert Craig Knievel, Jr., but you might know him better as Evel
Knievel."" Or, if not by his name, then perhaps by his appearance -
a man constantly wearing a death-defying smirk and a red, white and
blue leather jumpsuit (equipped with a fashionable cape).
