UW-Madison once had a colorful reputation as a university on the forefront of social justice through activism. In February of 1960, over 500 students gathered on Library Mall in support of the Civil Rights movement. Throughout the 1960s and ’70s, thousands of UW-Madison students were deeply involved in educating the nation daily about the perils of the Vietnam War. In July 1981, more than 1,500 students rallied on Bascom Hill in support of abortion rights.

With spring here and summer just around the corner, it’s time to add a splash of color into your life. A simple place to add distinction is in your living space. Whether you’re waking up in your bedroom, making lunch in your kitchen or sitting down to watch your favorite TV show in your living room, bright, bold colors have the ability to boost your mood and make you feel more creative and optimistic. Here are a few places pops of color can be added, along with some of my favorite colorful buys.

Lycidas, the synecdoche of lemons, vast grand opprobrium on wheels, even Lycidas could be depended on in a pinch. As the man in gray stepped toward the car, Klasper wrenched it into drive and sped forward over the left curb. After tooling around a bit on the sidewalk, the car hopped down and sped down the street. In the jostling, Foster had to swiftly catch his stereo cube jittering down the dashboard. He reset it and “Thick As A Brick” began anew. In the circumstances, it seemed more than a song; it seemed like a premonition, an address.

Saturday night was sickening. When Traevon Jackson’s pull up jumper clanged off the rim and fell to the floor, the city of Madison fell with it. It’s nights like Saturday that make it hard to be a sports fan.

Virtual reality isn’t a new fad in the gaming world. Since its earliest inception, there have been hilarious depictions in popular culture of kids entering some futuristic deathtrap masquerading as a VR machine. There has already been many failed examples of trying to immerse players in a virtual environment, such as the quasi-VR Nintendo Virtual Boy that doubled as a retina destroyer.

There’s very little poetic about a dream of everyone abandoning you. I woke up in a sweat & had to check to make sure all of me was still there. Sometimes the things we do to influence the world make change like a supernova & sometimes they carve like glaciers. I’m playing with a bit of a poem right now—

Nothing was formed in the wake of frontman Dominic Palermo’s two-year stint in prison, where he spent his time in intense reflection and undergoing long, painful writing sessions. They formed in 2011 when Palermo met guitarist Brandon Setta. They eventually attained two more members to create Nothing. Guilty of Everything, the band’s debut album, was recorded and produced by Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, War on Drugs, etc) and released March 4 through Relapse Records.

If you haven’t already, go vote in the spring student elections! Vote “yes” to pass the Rec Sports Master Plan, which would create four brand new Rec Sports facilities across campus. Vote “yes” to make exercising and intramural sports more comfortable and enjoyable for the many future generations of University of Wisconsin-Madison students to come. And most importantly vote ‘yes’ because that’s the Badger thing to do. I already know what you’re thinking: Why should I care about something I probably won’t even get to enjoy during my time in college? Well, I argue, because it’s the right thing to do. As UW students, we pride ourselves on being the best at many things. Madison has been voted the best college football game-day town, “Jump Around” has been ranked as the best college football tradition, Wisconsin is recognized as one of the top party schools in the country, the school’s academics are documented as some of the most elite in the nation. The list goes on and on. I don’t see why we can’t add one more perk to the list of UW’s luxuries and have the best rec sports facilities in the Big Ten, too.
