Why I can't listen to 'Backseat Freestyle'
Music is, by its very nature, subjective. Personally, I am not the biggest hip-hop fan; however, I love Kendrick Lamar.

Here are my descriptions of some really dumb things whose banality/stupidity you may have taken for granted:
When it comes to a Do It Yourself project, anything is possible with a handful of clothespins, a few sparkles and that underappreciated-yet-must-have hot glue gun.
“You’re gluten-free? Oh that sucks!” Many people often hear these comments when they tell friends of their dietary needs. Yet, little do these friends know, there are now gluten-free options in almost every restaurant.
Are you ever required to travel an exceptionally long distance across campus or around town? Do you have a class at the top of Bascom but don’t feel like walking up a ridiculously large hill to burn only a single Cheeto’s worth of calories? Do you live far from your classes, either off campus or in some remote Lakeshore dorm? Does the thought of walking in the looming zero-degree winter sound like the worst thing ever? Are you just straight-up lazy?
The Madison chapter of Humans vs. Zombies, the nation-wide game where “humans” defend themselves against “zombies” with socks and nerf blasters, will require participants to register weapons this year as an added safety precaution, according to University of Wisconsin Police Department spokesperson Mark Lovicott.
It’s that time of year again. School has started and everyone is settling into his or her new dorm, apartment or house. The walls look bare, empty and boring when you first move in. Decorations and personal touches need to be added to spice it up and show that someone actually lives there. Decorating can get pretty expensive on a tight college budget with the posters, paintings, dry erase boards, corkboards and peel-and-stick decals. These things can add up, yet your place still needs to be filled with something. Luckily, there are plenty of do-it-yourself decor projects you can make with little money.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison opened a new residence hall for fall 2013, named Aldo Leopold Hall, which focuses on educating students about conservation and sustainable living habits.
Chancellor Rebecca Blank sat down Monday with The Daily Cardinal and The Badger Herald and answered questions on a range of student issues. Read The Daily Cardinal's article here. Here’s what your new chancellor had to say:
In a meeting with campus press Monday in her recently unpacked office atop Bascom Hill, new University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank stressed the importance of building relationships with the campus community and legislators, upholding responsibility to the state and utilizing new revenue streams.
House fellow: An upperclassman in your dorm who’s there to lead the floor and help the residents out. (Most schools say “RA.”)
Southeast Myths
Instead of Sellery, you ended up in some Lakeshore dorm on the outskirts of campus and its name sounds like something you’d find at IKEA? You wanted lakeside living but landed a room in what looks like a high-rise jail—and is “Witte” pronounced like…?
Severe-weather gear
On getting along with your random roommate:
First things first, new Badgers: Congratulations! You’ve finally made it to the wonderful University of Wisconsin-Madison, where fun grows on trees and new friends come at you in droves. Yay!
When Equinox first opened in August 2006, Madison Property Management rented out the entire building in one week. As of May 5, 2013, Equinox still has 28 units available for August 2013. Another MPM complex located at 420 West Gorham has 15 units remaining.
Studying abroad presents an opportunity for students to plant themselves in foreign countries among unfamiliar cultures to experience something new and gain perspective, and many students find that experience here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As Badgers, we are definitely familiar with the quote, “work hard, play hard.” Unfortunately, with exams coming up we are all going to be sitting in our dorm rooms, friends’ apartments, campus libraries or random coffee shops focusing on the “work hard” aspect of that phrase. Finals week can be the most stressful time of the year, and with summer right around the corner, it is nearly impossible to stay focused. However, before you drive yourself insane by imagining every possible dreadful scenario—failing your chemistry test, forgetting to turn in your English paper or running out of time to complete your history project—look here to find healthy ways to de-stress!
$0.005205 per play. That’s what an artist makes every time his or her songs are streamed on Spotify. CD sales are incredibly sluggish, and if you are with a label, you’re making peanuts for every disc sold. So how do musicians make their money these days? Touring, touring and then, when the band is incredibly exhausted and on the verge of breaking up because they weren’t meant to spend four months together in a van significantly smaller than a dorm room, tour some more.
