Company to sun-filled days,
High hopes and no cares,
Were my denim shorts and twill shirts.
Cast I did, the heavy garments of old,
How I dug for them with the coming of the cold.
The light clothes of summer,
Light and light-colored,
They ask not where I am headed.
Care-free, inviting the wind,
They greet the breeze.
Romancing the sun,
They flutter and breathe.

Forgotten again, or lost
Under the next winter’s garb,
