Go check out 'Chicago'

Fred Ebb and John Kander’s musical “Chicago” is a classic, but it’s not the wholesome kind with prairie dresses and singing about the beginnings of young love. It’s sensual and powerful, with women who know what they want and will do anything to get it. The Broadway Across America tour slinked into Madison Tuesday night and will feature scantily-clad performers sashaying across the stage until Oct. 6.

Best and worst reads of Sara’s semester

Finals are almost upon us, and with them the end of my reading for the semester. Not that I'm complaining. Spending three hours reading isn't exactly my ideal Friday night. I'm an English major, so I read well over 20 books this semester. Some were wonderful pieces of literature, and others were just boring. Here is my list of the best and worst books I read for class this year.

Getting 'the talk' from books

My parents never gave me "the talk." Based on the awkward stories I've heard and knowing my own parents, I think I'm pretty lucky. The fallopian tubes scene from the Amanda Bynes movie "Sydney White" never happened, nor did the tennis conversation from "American Pie." I would probably have locked myself in my room with Fall Out Boy's "7 Minutes in Heaven" blaring if they had tried.

You'll have to look elsewhere this weekend if you want to see singing nuns or children frolicking in the hills of Austria. Instead, ""[title of show],"" a modern one-act musical, will be playing at the Mitchell Theatre. This meta-theater production ran in Madison over the summer and is being brought back for a two-weekend run.
