A deep dive into Wisconsin’s matchup history with Ohio State.
After a 17-0 season opening win over Miami (Ohio) Thursday night, Wisconsin has officially turned the page on a new season. Wisconsin’s ugly 2024 season is now history, and while Thursday’s sloppy victory was not nearly enough to put the Badgers’ doubts to rest, it was nonetheless a step in the right direction, however small.
The 2024-25 Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball season came to an end in the round of 32, falling to Brigham Young University 89-91 on March 22. They beat Montana 85-66 in the first round but failed to reach the second weekend of March Madness for the eighth straight season.
The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team came just short of a Big Ten title for the second consecutive season, falling to Michigan in a 53-59 defensive showdown. It was a heartbreaker for the Badgers, as Michigan swept them on the season.
Earlier this season, Wisconsin fell to UCLA in an 83-85 loss. The Badgers got revenge against the Bruins on Friday, steamrolling past them in an 86-70 rout and advancing to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament for the second consecutive season.
Saturday’s humiliating defeat against Penn State knocked the Badgers out of contention for the double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament, giving them the opportunity for a much-needed “get right game” of sorts. They took care of business, fending off the Wildcats 70-63 on Thursday and advanced to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
The 2022-23 Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team averaged 65.3 points per game on offense, the second-lowest in the Big Ten. The Badgers were ranked No. 14 in the country at the start of the new year before dropping 12 out of their last 18 games and missing the NCAA Tournament entirely.
The No. 11 Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team earned a colossal victory over No. 13 Purdue on Saturday.
Expectations were low for the Wisconsin men’s basketball team heading into the 2024-25 season.
