In Kentucky to debate Vice President Joe Biden Thursday, vice presidential hopeful and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., finds himself in the unique position this fall of convincing voters he is the right man for two jobs, even if he can’t have both of them.
A few weeks ago at the University of Central Florida, about 200 out of the 600 students in a senior level management class were thought to have had a copy of a midterm test prior to the exam. The university is allowing the cheaters to retake the exam (with different questions), along with taking an ethics seminar if they come forward and admit to the cheating. If they do not confess, cheaters face consequences as severe as expulsion.
The next governor of Wisconsin, whether he is Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker or Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, will face a huge budget deficit. As it stands, the deficit is estimated to be $2.7 billion for the next legislative session. However, the key to solving the problem is not to raise taxes, but to increase efficiency in government spending and stimulate economic development.
