Attorneys selected for new commissions set to replace GAB

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca, D-Kenosha, announced this week his appointments to the new Ethics and Elections commissions, which are set to replace the nonpartisan state election board by early summer. Barca appointed Milwaukee attorneys David Halbrooks, a former member of the state elections board, to the new state ethics panel and Mark Thomsen to the state election panel.

Sanders rally calls on collective action

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., appeared in Madison Wednesday, holding a campaign rally at the downtown Orpheum Theater six days before the state’s primary election. Sanders was consistent in the talking points that have been evident throughout his campaign.

Local businesses push investigation for unpaid labor

Two state legislators sent a letter to Attorney General Brad Schimel Monday on behalf of several local contractors raising questions about a lack of issued payments for the construction of student housing at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County and UW-Marshfield/Wood County.
