After falling 58-48 to No. 18 Purdue in a Valentine’s Day match-up, the Badger women’s basketball team (3-9 Big Ten, 11-14 overall) heads to Champaign, Ill., to take on Illinois (7-4, 14-9) Monday night. This is the second game between the two teams in just over two weeks, with Illinois beating the Badgers 64-56 at the Kohl Center Feb. 3.
Playing in their twelfth conference game of the season, the Wisconsin women's basketball team (3-9 Big Ten, 11-14 overall) fell to No. 18 Purdue (19-5, 8-3), 58-48.

The Wisconsin women’s basketball team (5-3 overall) hosted Marquette (4-3) in a nail-biter Wednesday night, topping the Golden Eagles 71-68. Wisconsin came in off a big home win against Alabama, but the Golden Eagles entered hot on a two-game win streak themselves.
The atmosphere inside the Kohl Center is always a little bit different when Marquette comes to town.
In her Monday press conference, head coach Bobbie Kelsey announced that sophomore guard Lindsay Smith has chosen to transfer and will no longer be a part of the team effective immediately.
Men’s Cross Country
The Wisconsin women’s basketball team (1-0 overall) hosted Milwaukee (1-1) in what appeared to be an evenly matched game Sunday night. Both teams struggled last season, the Badgers going 9-20 and the Panthers 9-21. To add to the suspense, Milwaukee head coach Kyle Rechlicz is a former player and assistant coach at Wisconsin. The night concluded with a 74-56 victory for the Badgers.
This is not just another year for the women’s basketball team (9-20 last season), who will kick off its 2012-’13 season against the University of Milwaukee (9-21) Sunday at 6 p.m.
The familiar Wisconsin vs. Minnesota rivalry made its way to Indianapolis for the first round of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament Thursday. A Minnesota team eager to avenge a home loss to the Badgers in the regular season left no doubt about who would advance to the second round, ending Wisconsin’s season with a 81-49 romp.
