Baraboo students will not be punished for Nazi salute photo

A group of Baraboo High School students who appeared to give a Nazi salute in a viral photo last week will not be punished for their actions, the school district said. In a letter sent to parents Wednesday, Baraboo School District Administrator Lori Mueller said the students were protected from punishment by free speech.


Four panelists discussed the work they do to alleviate burdens communities face in regards to the ICE arrests and raids.

Madison community members discuss impacts of ICE arrests on local families

More than 100 people from the Madison community gathered at the Pyle Center to discuss impacts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests that occurred across Wisconsin in late September. UW-Madison’s Asian American Studies Program hosted an event called “Four Days of Terror, Four Days of Hope” Tuesday to spread awareness about the recent ICE arrests and bring hope as well as action to the community. From Sept. 21-24, ICE deportation officers arrested 83 immigrants throughout Wisconsin, and 20 of those were residents of the Dane County area. “Today is a very special opportunity for us to learn about parts of our community that are unseen,” said Armando Ibarra, director of the Chican@ and Latin@ Studies program at UW-Madison. “This is a place of learning and a place of respect.”


Middleton High School students walked out at the beginning of the school day Monday to protest the administration’s inaction against a student some claim has been sexually harassing them for years.

Over a hundred Middleton High School students staged a protest Monday morning against the school’s administration for their inaction against a student who has been accused of sexually harassing girls for years. Over the weekend, MHS student Ozzy Benitez compiled dozens of anonymous accusations against a student at the school who has allegedly been harassing girls since they were in middle school.


Middleton police searched an entire apartment complex Saturday after two boys, ages 12 and 13, prank called them about a hostage situation.

The Middleton Police Department was forced to search an entire apartment complex Saturday after receiving a tip about a hostage situation they later discovered was a prank call made by two middle schoolers. Police received a phone call Saturday night from an individual who claimed they were being held hostage in the complex by an armed suspect.

Man bangs head on police car following arrest on State Street, MPD says

An 18-year-old man banged his head on a police car after being arrested on State Street Wednesday afternoon, according to a Madison police incident report. The suspect, who had a warrant out for his arrest in Rock County for possession of drug paraphernalia, was spotted on State Street by a police officer who knew him from previous encounters.
