Comedy troupe the Lonely Island have kept audiences rolling in
the aisles for years. Whether it is with their cult-hit web series
""Awesometown"" or their work on ""Saturday Night Live,"" Lonely
Island members Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer know
funny. That's why despite a lot of older songs littering the album,
Incredibad delivers both unbridled laughs and a bunch of catchy
grooves.

It began with Jumanji."" The Robin Williams vehicle about a
board game with mystical powers was a moderate success back in
1995. Besides the star power of Williams, the film also boasted
great special effects and a compelling plot.

Ok Kevin, it's time to write this week's column. Ok, I'll just
head to the office, fire up the ol' laptop, and pound out a quick
500-word piece on the February film season. I guess all I need
is... HEY! HEY WHAT THE FUCK MAN? WHO'S THAT GUY MOVING BEHIND THE
LIGHTS OVER THERE? I'M TRYING TO WRITE AN ARTICLE HERE! I'M GOING
TO KICK YOUR...

After Sunday's amazing game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and
the Arizona Cardinals there can be no doubt that football is
America's sport. The Super Bowl is consistently the most-watched
television event of the year, pitting the top two teams in a
climactic showdown featuring more hoopla than the Olympics. Yet
with the great potential viewing power of the Super Bowl comes a
whole bunch of trash that clutters this great event.

Oscar nominations have finally come out, and the big winner was
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,"" with 13 nominations. The
film, starring Brad Pitt as a man who ages backward, has been
earmarked for year-end awards shows from its inception. ""Button""
has a seemingly perfect storm of ingredients for awards-show
success.

As the onslaught of finals and term papers signals the end of
the semester, it also signals the beginning of a monthlong hiatus
for this column. This is a shame, because late December is the best
time of the year for films, as studios release their Oscar
contenders to keep them fresh in voters' minds. Because I won't be
publishing another column until late January, a mere two weeks
before the Oscar ceremony, I'm going to discuss some of the films
which are generating the most Oscar buzz and films you should
consider checking out over the long winter break.

Back in October, Mark Wahlberg starred in the movie adaptation
of the popular video game Max Payne."" It was the story of a man
double-crossed and out for redemption, a plot that seemed perfect
for adaptation. With Wahlberg providing the star power and video
game fans providing the hypothetical box office revenue, the film
seemed destined to be a hit.

One week from now, I can rest easy. One week from now, I won't
have midterms, papers, quizzes, labs or any other stresses in my
life. I'll be curled on the couch, in a partially vegetative state
in a tryptophan-induced coma and enjoying some of my favorite
Thanksgiving traditions. I wake up for the Macy's Thanksgiving
parade, then flip back and forth between the Westminster Dog Show
and watching the Detroit Lions lose to whatever team they're
playing. However, one tradition that has yet to catch on in my
family is the Thanksgiving movie.

When I was nine, my parents wouldn't let me watch most PG-13
movies. I was certain I was the only kid in the whole world who
didn't get to enjoy the crude hilarity of Happy Gilmore,"" the cool
guns and aliens in ""Men in Black"" or the epic romance of
""Titanic."" In retrospect, I'm thankful that their parenting
efforts saved me from losing three hours of my life to ""Titanic,""
but in general I felt left out.

Ever wonder what an episode of Entourage"" would be like if you
took away the wisecracks, the gratuitous nudity and added a whole
lot of melodrama? Director Barry Levinson has answered that
question with his new film ""What Just Happened."" Although the
movie proves Robert De Niro is still a talented actor despite his
old age, the film is entirely too self-referential and is full of
the kind of Hollywood ""in"" jokes that are good for a laugh but
aren't sufficient for driving the plot of a film.

As I sit writing this column, volunteers are running everywhere,
handing me flyers, pounding on my door, asking me to make the right
choice, to make the choice America deserves. Although all the
campaigning for the presidential election will be over by the time
this column runs, another session of campaigning is just beginning:
the yearly campaign studios wage to get their respective films
Oscar nominations.

Viewers turned out in droves this past weekend to witness the
East High School gang sing and dance their way through senior year
in High School Musical 3."" Earning $42 million in the opening
weekend alone, Disney has definitely validated their decision to
move the ""HSM"" franchise from cable to the big screen. My
frequent readers know I often spend time assailing the mind-numbing
stupidity of viewers and their sheep-like devotion to theatrical
trash. Yet, I will hold my tongue with ""High School Musical.""

With only a couple of weeks until Halloween, moviegoers can
expect to be inundated with a slew of horror films, all depicting
varying levels of terror, gore and gruesome violence. Yet, all of
these cringe-worthy films manage to elicit an R"" rating from the
Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), whereas one movie
scheduled for release this Halloween, Kevin Smith's ""Zach and Miri
Make a Porno,"" was almost given an NC-17 rating due to the frank
sexual nature of the film.

Recently, many people have been up in arms about the purported
economic crisis. The Dow Jones has fallen to record lows, credit
markets have been failing and the banks are going down the tubes.
Yet, none of these financial woes signifies the end of civilization
as we know it. That fateful sign occurred this past weekend, when
Beverly Hills Chihuahua"" made $29.7 million, topping the box
office. For a country in crisis, where people will supposedly soon
be losing their homes and their life savings, people sure seem
willing to throw $9.25 at a movie starring Drew Barrymore as the
voice of a whiny rat-dog named Chloe.

For those of you who read my column on a regular basis, you know
I have already discussed the death of cool once this year with the
geriatric pairing of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in the

us care for Jake La Motta, in ""Raging Bull,"" there was Paul
Newman.

As a film columnist, I often find myself scrolling through
entertainment websites, listening for rumors of stars being
attached to certain projects, movies being shot in various locales,
and projects being discussed in general. Sometimes, I come across a
movie in pre-production that excites me so much, I simply can't
wait the 18 months it will take to shoot the movie before talking
about it. Others I wish would never see the light of day, felled by
some unfortunate"" budgetary issues or a directorial conflict.

Call me crazy, but despite the number of summer-movie classics

wayside. The reason? Movie audiences are REALLY annoying. Here are
four inept moviegoers that have soured my theater enjoyment this
summer:

The summer movie season is finally reaching its end, which means
most of your movie appetites have been sated with plenty of

Thunder,"" ""Pineapple Express"").

Riding the wave of success from his recent movies including, The
40-Year-Old Virgin"" and ""Superbad,"" Judd Apatow has produced
another winning comedy with ""Forgetting Sarah Marshall,"" a

For all of you who watched the Oscars last Sunday - which was
