With the Badgers set to begin the 2006 season under first-year
head coach Bret Bielema on the road against Bowling Green September
2, many questions remain for an offense returning just 18 lettermen
from a year ago.

It was the summer of 2003 when a piece of news hit the wire that
threw the sports world into frenzy. Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe
Bryant was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel near
Vail, Colo. This wasn't Mike Tyson, this wasn't even Mark Chmura.
This was the golden boy, the family man: No. 8. Reports about the
man who Nike loved to sport their shoes, and Nutella to spread
their cocoa butter sent most sports fans into a world of
shock.

One Saturday freshman year, after scarfing down an 18-wheeler
from Pops, I ironically fell asleep watching 'Chasing Amy.' I
nervously woke up, realizing I had left my laundry in the basement
for the past four hours.

Holding true to her No. 32 national ranking, junior Caitlin
Burke was victorious in both singles and doubles competition,
extending her winning streak to five matches this spring, but the
Wisconsin women's tennis team dropped a home contest to No. 54
Western Michigan (2-2, 0-0 MAC) 5-2 Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis
Stadium.

When representing a country already treading in rough waters,
politicians should perhaps focus more on the public agenda than
their own personal agenda. Election season is still in the distant
future, but it seems that Hillary Rodham Clinton is beginning a
campaign a bit early and at an inappropriate time. Last week, in a
Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech in New York City, Senator Clinton
remarked that the GOP is running the House of Representatives like
'a plantation,' and that the Bush administration will go down in
history as 'one of the worst that has ever governed our country.'
The speech was unsettling to more than just the Bush Administration
and has left me wondering: was it just for votes?

For thousands of people in Wisconsin, this time of year is not
only a time for the holidays, but also a time for wearing blaze
orange clothes and spending weekends in the woods hunting
deer.

appeared regularly on Comedy Central and HBO, performing in
incredibly successful shows like 'Sheer Madness,' 'Fully Committed'

Saturday's game between LSU and Alabama has huge implications in
both the Bowl Championship Series and the Southeastern conference.
If LSU wins then not only will the Tigers move to the top five in
the BCS, but they will also tie the Crimson Tide and Auburn for
first place in the SEC West.

October 15 was the best College Football Saturday I've ever not
actually seen. I'll explain.

A law that prohibits state employees from signing contracts of
more than $15,000 with the state has hindered UW-Madison professors
attempting research with independent companies, UW officials and
professors said.

When evaluating plans for expansion, one of UW-Madison's
priorities is constructing a greener, denser campus. In order to
achieve this goal, university officials further detailed plans to
build upward and replace low-rise buildings at a Southeast Campus
Area Committee meeting Monday.

UW-Madison released an investigative report conducted by private
attorney Susan Steingass Thursday that claims UW-Madison
Administrator Paul Barrows sexually harassed five women, one of
whom is former UW-Madison Dean of Students Luoluo Hong, and wrongly
used his sick and vacation time.

Take a cursory glance at the health news on any given day and
you'll start seeing reoccuring buzzwords pop up again and again.
Antioxidants, in particular, are a popular choice. In my mind, a
typical viewer would likely make note these findings: \Oh, coffee
has antioxidants? Sweet! And blueberries, too? That's friggin'
awesome!"" The news item proceeds to replicate in their head like a
virus. During their next trip to the grocery store, these consumers
may be stricken by a need to pick up said products.

Sometimes an actor's reputation is directly affected by his rate
of productivity; appearing in too many movies can wear out a
welcome, while an indefinite hiatus can impair name recognition.
Some actors are better known for their constant output than the
films they appeared in, whereas highly revered, picky stars
flirting with early retirement inspire reliable interest in their
latest project.

I owe my sister 20 bucks and if Devin Harris could help me out
with that, it'd be nice. It's not that I blame him for me losing
money to my sister, it's just that this is sort of his
fault.

All year long, the No. 4 UW women's hockey team (14-7-1 Western
Collegiate Hockey Association, 20-7-1 overall) has boasted a stingy

At the White House each November, the president traditionally
grants a pardon to the Thanksgiving turkey that would have been
eaten. This shows the lighthearted, good nature of a president who
would never kill a turkey that hasn't been convicted with DNA
evidence. But when movie studios produce turkeys, they rarely let
them live for long. Films unapproved by John Q. Public don't last
long in theaters, unwatched TV shows get pulled and unpurchased CDs
inspire bands to break up.

Perhaps the biggest question for the Wisconsin football team
heading into this season was how well the young group of
linebackers could fill the roles of graduated Badgers Alex Lewis
and Jeff Mack. Through the first two games they have stepped up and
proven they can do the job.

Ten years ago the Badgers were headed to the Rose Bowl. Brent
Moss tallied 158 yards and two touchdowns to be awarded the 1994
Rose Bowl MVP as the Badgers rolled over UCLA, 21-16. The next
season the future seemed bright. Wisconsin seemed on the verge of
repeating as Big Ten champs and rumors had Moss as a potential
Heisman Trophy winner who was 282 yards short of breaking the
school rushing yards record.
