After months of campaigning, UW-Madison sophomore Leland Pan won the race for Dane County’s Board of Supervisors District 5 seat.
Students, faculty, and staff leaving for spring break who wish to vote in the April 3 presidential primary election can still cast an absentee ballot with the Madison City Clerk’s office.
We get it. Snooki’s due date is right around the end of the world as predicted by the Mayans. Justin Bieber looks like a lesbian. Lady Gaga wears weird clothing. We get it. We get the fact that you want to make fun of these people, that you want to suggest another athlete Kim Kardashian should date, that you cannot believe Lindsay Lohan can do lines of cocaine but not lines on “Saturday Night Live,” that you think the cast of “Jersey Shore” must have herpes by now. We get it. Think before you slander someone or something. No, this is not me appealing to your moral side and asking you not to make fun of people. This is a plea for everyone to stop making fun of easy targets.
What are you doing for break? This is the question everyone asks and everyone gets asked, but not everyone has the same response. Here is my take on what constitutes the classic, college spring break.

If one could personify German philosophy, Game Boy Color, and David Foster Wallace (but biracial)… what would the being become? A 20-year-old philosophy major at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin with a microphone in his hand and veggie bacon on his plate. Rory Ferreira, otherwise known as Milo, has enough big ideas to create a master’s thesis or more. Born in Chicago, raised in Maine and imported to Wisconsin after a childhood of moving around, Ferreira has quietly ambushed the hip-hop blogosphere with his brand of thought-provoking, pop-culture-immersed “nerd-hop.”
It is an unjust world we live in. Kate Upton stumbled upon huge success because she was seen doing the Dougie at a Los Angeles Clippers game, but my college degree cannot currently guarantee I am free from the world of “Would you like fries with that?” Well played, universe. Well played.
The Assembly passed a bill prohibiting the coverage of abortion under the federal healthcare law in Wisconsin following heated debate Tuesday.

As UW-Madison Style Gurus, we truly enjoy our job of reporting on the street style of our beloved campus, but the exciting experience of studying abroad can open our eyes to fashion in a new way.
On the concrete, construction-infested, one-way streets of Madison there lurk a variety of specimens both rare and over-populated. Walking to class, many of these breeds can be spotted in their natural habitat. Let us go on a safari of sorts to familiarize ourselves with these beasts of Badgerland.
Over the past four years, I have made an annual pilgrimage to Champaign, Ill. It is not exactly my favorite place on the planet: I prefer cities where trees outnumber gas stations. Still, one of my best friends from high school, Kelsey, is a student there, so I happily make the trek down once every 365 days.
College is a great institution for those looking to seriously challenge themselves and advance their understanding of self and environment. A collegiate environment also provides an excellent opportunity for students to form a working relationship with their professors in a way that helps them understand what they went to school to learn in the first place. Additionally, the dynamic environment of a campus, particularly here in Madison, allows for one to form his or her own connections in the vast social network—the real, living one, not that fake online knockoff. Unfortunately, the aspects that make college so great are being diluted by the overwhelming amount of people attending college.
