Preston awoke from his daze. Feeling foggy, groggy and unmoored, he slowly began to collect himself. As he regained awareness, he couldn’t help but notice the lack of familiarity of his surroundings. Everywhere he looked was barren and the ground was coated is some form of soapy residue, the likes of which he had never seen. Whatever this strange place was, it was certain that Preston was very far from his home. Perhaps even as much as forty centimeters away.

In the final contest between border rivals No. 1 Wisconsin (13-2-1-0 WCHA, 23-2-1) and No. 2 Minnesota (12-4-2-1 WCHA, 20-4-3) for the regular season, the Badgers shut out the Golden Gophers 3-0 to dominate this weekend’s series following an overtime win by Wisconsin last night. The teams were 1-1-1 this season before today’s win by the Badgers.

Wisconsin (5-3 Big Ten, 12-7 overall) took care of business at home — as head coach Greg Gard earned Big Ten win number 50 — after defeating Nebraska (2-6 Big Ten, 7-12 overall) by a final of 82-68. However, Coach Gard was not the only one with a record setting night; Junior forward Nate Reuvers reached 127 career blocks, passing Rashard Griffith and vaunting himself into fourth place for career blocks in Wisconsin history. The record breaking didn’t end there, as the Badgers also set a new school record with 18 made three-pointers in the game.

On Oct. 26, the Wisconsin Badgers posed no more of a threat to the Ohio State Buckeyes than any other team on the Buckeyes’ schedule to that point, and the Badgers got romped to a 38-7 final. So, when the Badgers take the field this Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with a Big Ten Championship on the line, their opponent, the still-undefeated Buckeyes, will have no shortage of confidence.

In the inaugural Country Classic tournament held at the Ford Ice Center Bellevue in Nashville, Tenn., the dominant No. 2 Badgers (8-1-1-0 WCHA, 16-1-1 overall) outskated the Harvard Crimson (5-0-0 ECAC, 5-4-0 overall) 5-1 on Friday evening; then the No. 8 Boston College Eagles (10-3-1 Hockey East, 11-4-2 overall) 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.

After a tough 1-0 home victory over Milwaukee (8-0-1 Horizon League, 17-2-1 overall) in the last round, the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers (10-0-1 Big Ten, 16-3-2 overall) travelled to L.A. and emerged victorious in a hard fought battle over Duke (3-1-6 ACC, 9-4-7) to move on to the round of sixteen. It will be a quick turnaround for the Badgers, as they play No. 7 UCLA (8-3-0 Pac-12, 16-4-1) Sunday evening. It will be a very difficult matchup, as UCLA ran through their first two opponents in the tournament, Lamar University and Clemson, 4-1 and 5-0 respectively.
