State Farm committed to donating an additional $50,000 to the Vet School not long after.

Petco to donate $250,000 to UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine

The story of WeatherTech’s unofficial mascot, Scout, went viral after it aired in the second quarter of Super Bowl LIV, urging people to donate to cancer research at the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Sciences.

CEO David MacNeil’s 7-year-old Golden Retriever had a rare form of heart cancer that was treated successfully thanks to the work of UW-Madison veternarians.

It was Scout’s story that led to a generous donation from the Petco foundation.

A Facebook post on Jan. 31 announced Petco would pledge $250,000 to the UW-Madison Vet School to help fight pet cancer.

Petco was founded in 1999 and has since invested over $250 million in animal welfare across the country, according to their website.

State Farm also tweeted their commitment  to donate $50,000 to the Vet School Feb 2.
