Okay so straight up, the thing I want to talk about is the Mini Indie Film Festival which is happening this weekend, because golly gee is it cool. While I am super biased given that I helped put it together, I also think that the idea of a completely free, student organized and run independent film festival is incredibly cool. Ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll. Unanimous preseason Big Ten favorite. Two players picked for All-American teams. It’s not crazy to say this is the most anticipated basketball team in Wisconsin history.

I had the amazing opportunity to connect with Matt Di Panni, the bassist for The Mowgli’s, and hear his take on being in the lineup for Freakfest this year and other important things like college football and beer. He was so nice, and assured me that we are in for a great show Nov. 1, not that I had any doubt.

This past Monday, amongst the long hours of studying for midterms, a vivacious and spirited concert took place at the Orpheum. Students and locals alike made their way down State Street to see Timeflies perform. Despite the pouring rain, this concert continued to fill up with devotees by the minute. With the scent of fresh rainfall around me, I was ready for the concert to begin.

Oh, Halloween. More than any other holiday, Halloween haunts you, in all stages of life. Whether you’re a kid trick-or-treating or a college person trying to be creative in their costume choice, whether you’re a parent sending your children into the night or that elderly person on the corner of Elm who thinks that Werther’s Original is exactly what the children want these days, Halloween haunts you.
