If you’re sitting in J, you deserve a standing ovation for managing to hide how drunk you are from security. You probably went to your cousin’s place on Regent, did four too many beer bongs and wandered into the stadium around halftime. This is the drunkest of sections and definitely the worst. If your plan is to watch the football game, don’t sit in J. You’ve been warned.

Singer Joe Casey moans into a microphone, letting waves of thoughts stream out like syrup. Meanwhile, the band crackles between steady thoughts and mental breakdown; a bass guitar tumbles along before a buzzsaw guitar rips it in twain. Casey slips into paranoia, interrogating the abyss. “Why does it shake?” he asks before trying to answer his own question with “the body, the body, the body…”

Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia are literally choking under a thick haze of wildfire smoke caused by the yearly burning of forests for the production of pulp, paper and palm oil on the islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan in Indonesia. The smoky haze that has engulfed these nations had been described by the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics as a “crime against humanity.” Schools have been closed, roadways shut down and half a million cases of acute respiratory infection have been reported since July.

First things first, I have never been a fan of Demi Lovato. I didn’t watch her on Disney Channel and I never considered seeing her in concert with the Jonas Brothers. That being said, Lovato’s newest album, Confident, released Oct. 16, surpassed my admittedly low expectations.
