Another week, another trophy matchup in the Big Ten West as No. 14 Wisconsin (4-2 Big Ten, 7-2 overall) faces off with Nebraska (2-4 Big Ten, 4-5 overall) Saturday in the sixth edition of the battle for the Freedom Trophy. The trophy, named to honor United States veterans, depicts half of Camp Randall Stadium--built on a Civil War training ground--and half of Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium with a large American flag in the middle.

Missed deadlines. Group projects gone wrong. Being late without a text. There are a lot of reasons to be irritable with one another, to lose our tempers, or to misplace our patience. This is particularly true as our already-low tolerance dwindles with each midterm, each final project assignment, and the looming break awaiting us in a few week’s time.

Timothée Chalamet continues to be on the rise ever since his knockout performance in 2017’s “Call Me By Your Name,” scoring another role in Netflix’s Henry V biopic “The King.” While Chalamet proved he was a gifted talent two years ago, he seems to have left all of his skills in the past, for his portrayal of the King of England is absolutely static.

Many might know Devonte Hynes’ material only through his solo work as Blood Orange, but outside of that, Hynes has worked on a dizzying number of projects in varying capacities. Vaping has become a quintessential part of high school and college culture. From school bathrooms to dorm rooms, students vape. With the new demand, the global market estimates that the vaping industry is worth approximately 19 billion dollars, and the number of vapers has been increasing rapidly — from about seven million in 2011 to 41 million in 2018, according to the BBC.

After thorough investigation this spooky season, it is with deep regret that the Almanac reports that candy corn is still indeed a thing. Every grocery and convenience store surveyed in Madison carried the vile candy even though most of the store shelves that they occupied were gathering copious amounts of dust. A few were even covered in cobwebs.

Earlier this month, the UW homecoming committee published a video which sparked one of the most interesting controversies I’ve seen in my 3-and-a-half years as a student here. Admittedly though, that wasn’t my first thought when I saw the headlines – that thought was closer to: “There’s a video for that? I don’t think I know what homecoming is.” And indeed, I didn’t. “Homecoming” occupied a space in my brain loosely linked to memories of toilet paper and bad dances, so perhaps you can imagine my confusion when I found out it wasn’t the white people who were outraged that they were the only ones in it.
