I’m sure you all have your guilty pleasures—those delightful bits of enjoyment you try to eradicate from your search histories in attempts to salvage your credibility—and I am no exception. Whether you enjoy the occasional supernatural romance or find some sort of bizarre pleasure in watching bourgeois housewives pull each others’ hair, these underrated—or maybe properly rated—TV trifles are both the joy and the bane of our existence. Here are some of my current favorite guilty pleasures. I won’t judge you if you don’t judge me.

A tough weekend went from bad to worse for the Wisconsin men’s hockey team (1-2-1 WCHA, 1-4-1 overall) Saturday night as the team was swept by Colorado College and then lost their leading scorer, junior forward Mark Zengerle, to a broken finger.

This Sunday is the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of
Sept. 11. It is a day that shaped the United State for the next
decade and beyond. Our government responded with wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as controversial homeland security
measures like the Patriot Act. Many citizens responded to the
attacks by uniting with a strong sense of patriotism and
pride .

Every once in awhile the Sundance Film Festival will send us
Badgers a special cinematic treat. Madison is lucky enough to have
a Sundance Cinema located at Hilldale Mall, which means the
festival will usually give us a special screening of one of the
festival's highlights. This year's film is none other than the
winner of the festival's U.S. Dramatic Competition Grand Jury
Prize, ""Like Crazy"". Director Drake Doremus' new film is full of
fresh talent and it one of the most honest portrayals of young love
in recent memory.

It seems like every year around February or March people make
the claim that it's the worst time of year. I've heard everything:
burnout from school, the not-quite-winter-but-not-quite-spring
weather, winter sports winding down, and even that they just hate
Valentine's Day with a fiery passion. I, however, love this time of
year for one simple reason: shitty movies. Yes, this time of year
is perfect for studios to pump out their corny formula comedies or
awful book adaptations for audiences who don't know any better. I'm
a bit of a film buff myself, and a little research produced some
quite surprising news. It appears that UW-Madison itself has been
an inspiration for many of these subpar films that come out this
time of year. I included titles and summaries from nine of the best
ones below:

Scatter-shot with casual pubs, inventive restaurants and myriad
small shops, the near-east side's Williamson St. is one that a
resident may never have to leave. From the New Age shops and yoga
studios to the hardware stores and plumbers that line the
well-traveled road, locals can find anything they need or want on
Willy's short ten-block run.

With a milk chocolate shell and a creamy center, the Yin Yang
finds balance between flavor and texture. As it melts away, a
savory jasmine tea flavor explodes onto your palate. The accurate
embodiment of the tea is something to come back to whether you find
nirvana or not.

Raspberry Chipotle is a David Bacco seasonal. It has a
smooth texture with an unmistakable raspberry purée center. The
heat from the chipotle is very subtle, but noticeable.

For pecan fans, this chocolate is a must. With a creamy
tan shell and a rich caramel-pecan center, the Hazelnut Praline
Milk Chocolate is a true gift for mouths. Its sweet-salty crunch
leaves a pleasant mouth feel and pleasing texture, and the subtle
notes of hazelnut round out this amazing chocolate.

To those unaccustomed to spicy chocolate, the elegant
red foil on this Truffle serves as both a warning and an
enticement. At first bite the aromatic cinnamon opens the senses
for what is coming. As the chocolate ganache melts away a soft slow
burn from the pepper complements the tang of the cinnamon and the
cool creaminess of the dark chocolate. This one is a favorite.

David's gorgeous chocolates are not only visually
appealing, but also unbelievably delicious. His Passion Fruit
Vanilla Truffle is the best fruit flavored chocolate in town. It
convincingly carries the flavors of passion fruit and marries them
perfectly with Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans, Malibu rum, and
delicate milk chocolate.

Bacco attempts to channel romantic sensuality with his
""L'amour"" line. Aphrodisiac for Her contains aromas of
strawberry, passion fruit, and honey. These flavors are intensely
fruity.

Topped with a pretty rose petal, this truffle has
subtle nuances that are best observed when savored. Our expert
palates had difficulty picking up the rose tea character, but it is
still a tantalizingly tasty truffle.
