The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department (UWPD) is investigating a three-month string of four burglaries at the UW-Madison Law Building, according to a Wednesday crime alert.
The first burglary took place in late October, UWPD Executive Director of Communications Marc Lovicott told The Daily Cardinal in a statement. The most recent incident occurred Sunday. All four burglaries happened after hours, when the building was closed.
Items were taken from both locked and unlocked lockers. Lovicott said specific items could not be disclosed while the investigation is ongoing.
UWPD believes the burglaries were carried out by the same individual or individuals and that there may be additional unreported incidents.
UWPD advised students to ensure their personal belongings are secure, noting theft can happen in an instant. They encouraged students to take items with them if locking them away is not an option, remain alert to suspicious activity and report it when necessary. In the email, UWPD said they can be contacted at (608) 264-2677 with any information or receive anonymous tips through the BadgerSAFE app.
