A Tesla Cybertruck drove onto Library Mall Tuesday evening near at least two student polling stations, about thirty minutes before polls closed, according to a police dispatch call.
The driver was identified as 31-year old David J. Volm of Stevens Point, according to a University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department (UWPD) incident report.
Volm tossed drug paraphernalia onto the ground and shouted “free weed,” according to an X post made by Rep. Francesca Hong, D-Madison. A spokesperson for UWPD told The Daily Cardinal the items were “business promotional.”
Volm was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail by UWPD on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct. He was also cited for multiple traffic violations.
No one was injured by the truck, and the driver has no affiliation with UW-Madison.
This is a developing story.
