“This is about who we are and how we are seen,” said the narrator in the new UW-Madison Homecoming video.

‘We are here. We are important. We are UW:’ New Homecoming video highlights previously missing student representation

One hour before last Saturday’s homecoming game, UW-Madison released a new homecoming video highlighting the diversity of students on campus.

The video features short interviews with students of color talking about their passions and work done on campus.

This comes following backlash over the student Homecoming Committee’s now-deleted promotional video that failed to feature students of color.

“At UW-Madison, we learn lessons inside and outside of the classroom. The week before Homecoming we learned a lesson about what happens when some students are forgotten,” the video’s narrator said. “But this is not about a homecoming video. This is about who we are and how we are seen.”
