Three incidents involving guns send two to hospital, one arrested

At least two were hospitalized and one man was arrested as three different incidents involving guns broke out in the Madison area this weekend, according to police.

Early Saturday morning, police arrived at a hospital where a 30-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound in his leg. Following a preliminary investigation, police found that the victim was shot following an altercation after a party earlier that morning in the Allied Drive neighborhood, but they did not arrest a suspect.

Later on Saturday, a woman claimed she was beaten unconscious inside a car in a south Madison neighborhood during a domestic incident. She also told police the suspect fired shots at the car as she drove away.

After investigating the scene and finding a spent shell casing, police located and arrested the suspect, 37-year-old Terrance Pearson. Police also seized a loaded handgun when they made the arrest.

According to a police incident report, Pearson faces a number of tentative charges, including second-degree reckless endangerment, substantial battery, disorderly conduct while armed and felony bail jumping.

Early Sunday morning, a 22-year-old man was shot from an SUV on the East Side while walking on the sidewalk. While the victim sought treatment at Meriter Park Hospital, Madison Police investigated the incident.

According to the victim, the SUV pulled up next to him as he was walking around 1 a.m. Someone in the SUV started firing from the vehicle, and the victim was shot in the leg. Police and the victim suspect this is a result of an ongoing dispute and the victim was specifically targeted.

The investigation is currently ongoing and no arrests have been made.
