Peace Corps Director Jody Olsen will visit UW-Madison this week to recognize the university’s No. 1-ranking campus program.
UW-Madison took the top spot on Peace Corps’ Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list for the past two years. The most recent list was released in February 2018.
Since the Peace Corps’ inception in 1961, over 3,200 UW-Madison graduates have volunteered their service in Peace Corps programs around the world. Currently, there are 85 graduates serving in 40 different countries, according to the Peace Corps at
The Campus Recruiting Office is a resource for students who may be interested in applying for the Peace Corps. There is also information about getting more involved on a local level, becoming a campus ambassador or improving an aspiring volunteer’s Peace Corps application.
Olsen’s visit this week will be yet another resource for students and faculty.
She is scheduled to meet with UW-Madison leadership, sit in on a faculty roundtable and present at a student recruiting session.
At the student recruiting session, Olsen is expected to answer attendees’ questions following a presentation to discuss the continuing need for differently skilled volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.
Olsen will also attend a reception to celebrate UW-Madison’s ranking as a top contributor. The newest UW-Madison students selected to serve will be formally recognized at the reception, and returning volunteers will be invited to share their experience.
The reception, open to anyone interested in celebrating the Peace Corps, will be held in Tripp Commons at Memorial Union on Thursday.
