Simple ideas to help you procrastinate studying

Okay, so you made it to the library to hunker down and be productive but, that’s only half the battle. Funny how each time a student walks through the doors of College or Memorial Library, they believe that a wave of motivation will wash over them. In reality, this usually doesn’t happen. The sheer fact that we have graced this studious space with our presence seems to be enough effort for the rest of the day.

If you’re still looking for ways to avoid completing you latest assignment or studying for you next midterm, here are various procrastination techniques guaranteed to help you avoid starting your work.

Game it up with Fortnite

If you are looking for something more engaging than Netflix but something that will also help you kill hours of time, try playing Fortnite. It is a free game that anyone can easily download onto their computer. Say goodbye to reading textbooks and hello to hiding in bushes and running around a virtual world with a pick axe. It’s fun and the level of accomplishment you feel when you achieve battle royale status is a feeling no Quizlet could give you.

Plot how you’re going to get a therapy dog

If you didn’t do this at least once as a freshman in the dorms, you’re probably lying. After Dogs on Call would visit, most of us would fantasize about getting a therapy dog to live in the dorms and go to class with us. There’s no shame there. It doesn’t hurt to try to look up the process of getting a therapy or emotional support dog on campus, but most of us will have to settle with watching cute puppy videos on Instagram.

Get lost in the world of Buzzfeed quizzes

Have you ever wondered what Midwestern food or which Friends character you are based off of your ice cream preferences? Buzzfeed quizzes are the perfect way to kill time and learn things about yourself that you never even knew you needed to know. Many of us would rather get stuck in the dark hole that is endless Buzzfeed quizzes rather than stick model molecules for a few hours.

Check your horoscope

When you don’t feel like cramming for an exam or feel that all hope is lost and studying simply won’t make a difference anymore, you must leave your future up to the cosmos. Check out your horoscope for the day of your test and you can infer how your test is going to go. A good reading may mean that you don’t have to study much more and a bad one insinuates you still should not study because, well, you can’t change your fate!

Make procrastinating a group activity

Nine times out of 10, if you’re procrastinating so are the people that you’re studying with. At that point, you might as well make it a group activity! If you’re hiding your poor study habits from the rest of the world in the quiet study section, have no fear! Take a “walk” to clear your head to focus and prowl the library until you run into someone you know. Then, use the excuse of being a polite human being and “catching up” with them to not return to your homework.
