Two male suspects allegedly attempted to force their way into an apartment on the 100 block of E. Wilson Street early Saturday morning, police said.
The victim told Madison police the two suspects knocked on the apartment door, and according to a statement from Madison Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Ann Lehner, ""Upon looking through the peep hole, the resident did not recognize the individuals and did not answer the door.""
The suspects started to kick the door, but police said the victim pressed his body up against the inside of the door, which prevented the suspects from getting inside. The suspects allegedly forced the door open but did not enter the apartment.
When officers arrived to the scene, the suspects fled, police said.
""It is unknown what the suspects' intentions were,"" Lehner said in a statement.
The victim was not injured and authorities said there were no weapons seen.
The two suspects are said to be in their mid 20's, around 5'7"" with a stocky build. At the time of the incident the suspects were reported as wearing dark clothing, police said.
