ESPN SportsCenter anchor Scott Van Pelt will join The Student Section,"" WSUM's afternoon sports talk show, Tuesday to talk about his proclaimed love for Madison and the speech he will be giving Sunday at UW-Madison's graduation ceremony.
The university announced last week that Van Pelt would be giving the traditional commencement speech. According to Secretary of the Faculty David Musolf, Van Pelt was at the top of the lists of students who submitted possible speakers.
The sports show airs every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. on 91.7FM in Madison or online worldwide at www.wsum.org. The Daily Cardinal's men's basketball writer Adam Hoge co-hosts the show with fellow UW-Madison seniors Tim Shovers and David Dreifuss.
Van Pelt became a household name in Madison this summer after declaring the city the greatest college sports town in America on an ESPN radio show in July.
""Madison, Wisconsin is as good as it gets if you are like me and you love the college sports. The teams are relevant. The venues are unbelievable. The setting is gourgeous,"" he said. ""I had to declare it the greatest sports town - the greatest college sports town in our country, after having been there for 48 hours.""
