Madison police reported two cases of alleged strong-armed robbery occurred Wednesday night on the outskirts of campus.
According to a police report, one happened on the 100 block of East Gilman Street. In that case, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly attacked at about 10 p.m. by a suspect - black male in his 20s - who is described as dirty.""
Police said the suspect reportedly asked for cigarettes and as the victim turned around to respond, the suspect grabbed her purse and took off running.
Police said the other alleged robbery took place on Mills Street near Emerald Street. Another 26-year-old woman was walking home at about 10:30 p.m., when two suspects - both black males in their early 20s - allegedly approached her from behind.
Police said one suspect allegedly grabbed the victim around the neck and the other took her purse. In both cases, victims were not seriously injured, and the suspects remain at-large.
