Madison police have released tapes of the 911 calls that immediately preceded a fatal gas station shooting at 1130 Williamson St.
Police shot Victor Montero Diaz April 12 at the east side BP station after he bit one officer and attacked another with a steak knife. Before his death, Montero Diaz called 911 from the station's bathroom, claiming that he was being kidnapped.
Montero Diaz then called his probation officer, Craig Holler, who immediately called 911.
I think he's using,\ Holler said of Diaz, who had a history of drug abuse. ""He says he's at the gas station there and someone is trying to kidnap him.""
The police department recently cleared officers Kip Kellogg and Kirby Harless of any wrongdoing in Montero Diaz's death.
Montero Diaz's parents are currently in Madison but have told police that they do not wish to talk to the media.\
