A recent USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows President Bush has widened his lead over Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry in Wisconsin.
According to poll results, Bush holds a lead of 8 percent over Kerry among likely voters and a 4 percent point lead among registered voters. Democrats are troubled at the moment because Bush is gaining in the state. A poll taken a week before the Republican National Convention showed Bush held only a three-point lead over Kerry.
Bush's edge in the latest poll is within the poll's margin of error.
Wisconsin is a swing-state, and Democrats say Kerry must win in Wisconsin if he wants to win the election.
In the 2000 presidential elections, Democratic candidate Al Gore won the state by a small margin. Republicans have targeted Wisconsin in 2004 as a Democratic state that could likely turn Republican.
