Two sexual assaults occurred early Sunday morning, both along University Avenue, according to statement by the Madison Police.
At 4:15 a.m., two males abducted a victim near the area of University Avenue and Lake Street. The female victim was sexually assaulted, treated and released from an area hospital. Madison Police identified one of the suspects as Ricardo Ponce, 23, and arrested him on charges of intimidation of victim, sexual assault and false imprisonment. The other suspect is still at large, but according to police is 5'7\ and 25-30 years old, with a bowl style haircut.
According to a Madison Police spokesperson, the victim was drinking and separated from friends when the assault occurred. He said there were no weapons involved.
Sgt. Sue Armagost, who filed the release, said the investigation is ongoing.
The other sexual assault occurred in the 500 block of University Avenue around 5:45 a.m. The victim was a college-age female. The suspect, a white, 5'11"" male wearing a dark stocking cap and a dark winter coat, followed the victim to the building. He proceeded to follow her into the elevator and into her apartment. According to the police report, after entering the victim's apartment he grabbed her, but fled on foot after the victim's roommate frightened him.
