A new virus dubbed \mydoom"" flooded inboxes Monday, UW-Madison's Division of Information Technology reported.
Students report numerous infected files sent via class-lists and unknown senders.
""I'm getting all the e-mails through my Scandinavian class list and I've gotten probably six or seven today,"" UW-Madison junior Renee Lietha said.
WiscMail virus definitions have been updated on campus servers, but DoIT officials said students may still receive these emails.
DoIT advises students not to open files or macros attached to an e-mail from an unknown or suspicious source. Officials also warn of opening email attachments from people you know as the latest virus uses address books to forward infected messages.
A man sexually assaulted a female UW-Madison student on Monday at 3:15 a.m. in Ogg Hall, according to UW Police Lt. Eric Holen, making this the third sexual assault in as many days in the campus area.
Holen said UW Police responded to a third-degree sexual assault and are still searching for the suspect. The victim described the assailant as a white male, six feet tall and 18 to 22 years old. Holen said the suspect might have a scratch on the right side of his face from the assault.
Former UW-Madison offensive lineman and current Dallas Cowboys center Al Johnson goes to trial this week for driving under the influence Oct. 6, 2002.
Johnson, then a UW-Madison student, was arrested by UW Police after an officer spotted an orange traffic cone stuck underneath the bumper of his SUV.
The 38th draft pick in 2002 has a previous record of alcohol related crimes, including a drunken driving ticket in Shawano County in 1999 and underage drinking in Madison in 1998.
Because of his previous crimes, a minimum five day jail sentence will come with a conviction.
Johnson did not play during his entire rookie season with the Cowboys due to a knee injury.
