Though Sunday's women's basketball game between Wisconsin (2-5 Big Ten, 8-9 overall) and Northwestern (0-8, 7-11) pitted the ninth and 11th placed teams in the Big Ten, one would not have guessed it from the fine quality of hoops action that was on display. The Badgers were able to secure a 69-53 win, just their second conference victory, in front of High School/Alumni Day crowd of 7,324. While Wisconsin snapped a two-game losing streak, the loss sent Northwestern to their seventh successive defeat.
