State Senate Majority Leader Chuck Chvala, D-Madison, promised Thursday that state schools and municipalities will receive more state funding than has been proposed by both Gov. Scott McCallum and the Legislature's budget deliberation committee.
\I will guarantee you, before this budget gets out of the Senate, we're going to have greater funding for the university,"" he said on the Senate floor. ""Because all those great things we did for economic development for the university in this last budget were gutted in the governor's proposal and they weren't restored in the Joint Finance Committee.""
