Winter parking, storm window regulations become effective today

Drivers and tenants beware, alternate side parking and storm window rules go into effect in the city of Madison today.

From now until March 15, residents must park their cars on the even-numbered side of the street between 1 and 7 a.m. on even-numbered days and on the odd-numbered side between 1 and 7 a.m. on odd-numbered days.

These rules do not apply in the Isthmus snow emergency zone east of Park Street between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. Alternate-side parking only applies in that area during snow emergencies.

Violators of alternate-side parking rules may be fined $10, or $20 in the snow emergency zone.

Madison ordinances also require landlords to install storm windows by Nov. 15. For more information, renters may contact the Tenant Resource Center at 257-0006.
