Letter to the Editor

Benefits of cloning outweigh problems

Let me be the first to step up and say yes to cloning. I think it should be pursued to the fullest and given as much money as possible. This is my response to lawmakers, particularly President Bush, who said that with this most recent cloning development, the government should place restrictions on it. Bush has some right-wing religious agenda in mind and nothing else when he wants to stop the cloning of humans. Did anyone in the government stop the Manhattan Project when it was researching nuclear weapons, a far worse evil than cloning? No, they supported it and the results were the Cold War and the death of hundreds of thousands of Japanese. I forgot'the Japanese were considered less than Americans, and the research would win the war and further political agendas. I'm sure President Bush would gladly support cloning if it would kill a few more Taliban soldiers and raise his support rating a couple more points. Sure, cloning may cause some problems, but all new technology does. To call cloning heresy before it even gets started is fascist and archaic. Onward with technology, science and the future.
