The Associated Students of Madison's Student Judiciary ruled Sunday that it had
o jurisdiction"" to hear the case the UW Greens brought against Lamont Smith, chair of ASM's Student Services Finance Committee. The Greens alleged SSFC violated viewpoint neutrality in deciding the group's 2002-'03 budget.The budget was cut from a proposed $25,574.72 to $19,815.
The group could not file an appeal to Student Judiciary since it never filed an initial appeal of SSFC's budget decision, which must be made within five days of the original decision, according to ASM bylaws.
The court also ""highly recommended"" that SSFC ""carefully review all sections of the bylaws that relate to viewpoint neutrality to ensure compliance with them.\
