Tapp joins Badger staff with track record of success

The Wisconsin swimming and diving team has hired Canadian Olympian Jake Tapp as an assistant coach. Tapp, who was formerly an assistant at the University of New Mexico, replaces Dan Schemmel, who left after taking a head coaching position at the University of Hawaii early this summer.

Tapp spent one year as the sole assistant coach at New Mexico, which only has a women’s team, and previously spent two years at Indiana University—Purdue University Indianapolis as the men’s assistant coach. A 13-time All-American at the University of Arizona, Tapp also represented Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is a former world-record holder in the 4x100-meter short course medley relay.

Tapp joins a Wisconsin staff that includes head coach Whitney Hite, diving coach Anton Slobounov and assistants Chris Collier, Neil Caskey and Emilie Hoeper.
