Where to find your protein, without the meat

It’s no secret that I really love food, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a picky eater when it comes to meat. I’m a 99 percent-of-the-time-pescatarian/one percent-of-the-time-I-guess-I’ll-try-a-piece-of-chicken type of eater. While this type of diet may work for my taste palette, I learned that it doesn’t work so well for my body, and has left me in serious need of some protein. If you’re like me, you know that it’s not always easy to maintain healthy levels of protein while steering clear of meat, but I’ve found some ways to make getting protein easy, healthy and obviously, delicious. (These are still delicious ways to differentiate your protein intake, even for meat-eaters!)

So, here we are again. Classes are starting, leaves will be falling soon and those hot days spent at the terrace are coming to an end. When summer turns into autumn, it’s easy to fall into an overall slump, but the most common rut of all to get stuck in is a fashion rut. When the days get colder, it’s so tempting to live in sweatshirts and forget all about the cute clothes that you loved to rock all summer. While comfy days are definitely an occasional must, it’s surprisingly easy to turn your favorite summer pieces into fall-friendly, trendy outfits.

Do you ever scan the pages of a fashion magazine or look at a fashion blog, see your favorite celebrity and think, “She looks amazing, but I could never wear something like that”? I know I do, and rightfully so. With stylists and major events to attend, celebrities get the chance to take some major fashion risks that some of us might feel uncomfortable sporting at Johnny O’s on a Thursday. Spring eating: tasty bites, outdoor sights

So, here we are again. Temperatures have finally climbed higher than 40 degrees, the sun is out and tables and chairs are back outside State Street’s beloved restaurants. During this past particularly frigid winter, going to get food was less about the best eating experience and more about finding the closest possible place to grab food so frozen noses and hands could be avoided. But it’s time to venture back outside and check out the best warm-weather eating experiences Madison has to offer.
