Record Routine: José González brings back the personal side of folk but still falls flat in the end

José González tried to reclaim something lost with Vestiges & Claws. He’s heard modern folk artists sing their stories to indie pop radio’s delight, heard them brush up a singer-songwriter’s sound with popish glow and nostalgic love of romance woven between verses and choruses. He knows that, today, folk is a bastardized thing; what once gave a voice to many is now relegated to tropes and easily digested drama.

Walker's higher office hope has grounds

Well, it’s official. I mean, maybe it’s kind of official. Scott Walker is running for President. This should come as a surprise to no one who has been paying attention to the Governor over the past few months, whose rhetoric and travel schedule has been littered with higher office hopes. Today’s news begs a question, though: can he do it? Does he have the political power to become the Republican nominee? Short answer: absolutely he does.

Ever since Wisconsin athletic director and former head coach Barry Alvarez paced the sidelines, the Badgers have established themselves as one of the premier running teams in the country. A massive offensive line coupled with athletic yet powerful tailbacks have led the program to six Big Ten championships and as many Rose Bowl appearances since Alvarez’s arrival in 1990.
