It's never easy for anyone to openly discuss sexual violence, especially someone who knows the reality of such injustice all too well. Below is a column written by a dedicated PAVE volunteer who has decided to remain anonymous for the sake of friends mentioned in the piece. Charity needed this holiday season

 The United Nations Development Program estimated it would cost $20 to $30 billion to provide clean water and sanitation universally to the entire world. Contrast that with this number: On average, Americans spend $450 billion every year on Christmas. With 5,000 children dying every day because of water-related diseases, spending $450 billion on Christmas almost seems like a crime.

Key to progress lies in the Golden Rule

In the United States, an overwhelming majority of Americans identify with both religious and political beliefs. In every major religion of the world, people are called to love one another as themselves. That being the case, why isn't this fundamental idea inherent in our politics as well?
