Badgers gut out 1-0 win over Valparaiso in soggy conditions

The Wisconsin Badgers (2-2-0) gutted through soggy conditions and a field change to earn a confidence-boosting 1-0 win over the Valparaiso Crusaders (1-3-0). While technically a home game, UW was forced to move the game 7.2 miles away to the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Pitch on Madison College’s campus because conditions at McClimon were too soaked to play.

Missed chances cost Badgers as they fall to Fordham in overtime

The Wisconsin Badgers (1-2-0) let a good performance slip into a heartbreaking overtime loss to the No. 15 Fordham Rams (2-0-0) as the Rams’ junior forward Johannes Pieles scored a golden goal for a 1-0 win for Fordham. The German forward thumped a header into the back of the net after a brilliant free kick service by senior midfielder Janos Loebe found the danger zone of the Badgers’ box.

Cornerback Carriere-Williams Set to Transfer

Redshirt sophomore cornerback Dontye Carriere-Williams announced that he would be leaving the Badgers’ football program. Carriere-Williams tweeted an announcement on Wednesday night that he’s been granted a full release just two days before No.4 Wisconsin opens up the 2018 season against Western Kentucky. After playing in all 14 games last season with five starts, Carriere-Williams was the only player at the cornerback position with any meaningful game experience heading into the start of this season. Carriere-Williams played as the Badgers’ No. 3 cornerback last season behind Nick Nelson and Derrick Tindal.

The Badgers basketball team has lower expectations this season as evidence by the slower sell out of student season tickets.

Wisconsin Basketball 2018-2019 Schedule Released

Wisconsin’s basketball schedule for the 2018-19 season is set. The calendar was released Tuesday afternoon by the Big Ten, and it should test a young Badgers team that missed the NCAA tournament last season. Like last season, the Badgers will face some stingy non-conference opposition early in the season. Wisconsin will travel to Xavier and Marquette before Christmas, and will face Stanford and either Florida or Oklahoma in the Battle 4 Atlantis, which runs from November 21-23. The Badgers will also be tested by the Big Ten’s new 20-game schedule, a wrinkle that will make its debut this season (teams previously played 18 games against conference foes). Coach Greg Gard’s squad will begin its Big Ten slate November 30 at Iowa, before hosting Purdue and Maryland in Friday-night games.
