Women's Basketball: Wisconsin host Wastington State in Friday-night showdown

In search of its first home victory of the season, the Wisconsin women's basketball team welcomes Washington State to the Kohl Center Friday. The Badgers are coming off of a difficult 54-52 road loss at the hands of in-state rival Marquette Tuesday. Wisconsin (1-2) had a 49-46 lead with 2:37 to play, but the Golden Eagles scored eight of the last 11 points in the game to secure the victory.

Men's Basketball: Badgers continue early season success

After a resounding 54 point victory against Kennesaw State Saturday—in which the Wisconsin men’s basketball team shot 15-25 from behind the arc and moved up one spot to No. 14 in the AP Poll—the Badgers looked to pick up its second regular season win against the Colgate Raiders of the Patriot League Wednesday.

Men's Basketball: Freshman showing promise

Each year brings new promise for the Wisconsin men’s basketball team, and Badger freshmen certainly play a role in fulfilling that promise. While there may not be any big name recruits this season, the incoming class certainly has a lot to offer.

Men's Basketball: The Badgers look to build on hot start

There was plenty to talk about following Wisconsin's 85-31 season-opening win over Kennesaw State. From the record-tying first half in which the Badgers only gave up eight points to the 54-point margin of victory, their largest since 2006, the season opener was certainly a wake up call to a UW fanbase heading into yet another season not knowing what to expect.

Men's Basketball: Wisconsin opens season with dominating effort

The No. 15 Wisconsin men's basketball team (1-0) took on the Kennesaw State Fighting Owls (0-1) Saturday in the first ever meeting between the two teams.  After handling UW-Stevens Point in its one and only exhibition game 80-54, Wisconsin continued its winning ways in its first regular season tussle of the year.

Women's Basketball: Badgers down Milwaukee on the road, discover early season woes in return to the Kohl Center

Led by 17 points and 14 rebounds from junior guard Taylor Wurtz, the Wisconsin women's basketball team (1-1) started the regular season on the right foot with a 68-51 road victory over the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers (0-1) on Friday night. Wisconsin's home debut on Sunday against an experienced Oral Roberts (2-0) team went less smoothly, as the Golden Eagles defeated the Badgers 80-63 at the Kohl Center.

Men's Soccer: Big Ten title hopes spoiled by Penn State

The University of Wisconsin men's soccer team had an abrupt and disappointing end to their season on Friday. The Badgers went into their second round match with the last-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions, a team off an upset of the second seeded Ohio State Buckeyes, with a chance to move on to the finals of the Big Ten Conference tournament. But on Friday in Ann Arbor (the University of Michigan played host to the tournament), the Badgers went down 1-0 to the Nittany Lions and now must await the judgement of the NCAA to see if they will, by some small chance, get a bid for the NCAA tournament.

Men's Hockey: The greatest show on ice

Five weeks into the 2011-12 season, the Wisconsin men’s hockey team (3-4-1 WCHA, 4-5-1 overall) is still trying to figure out what type of club it is. The Badgers have shown resiliency in several late-game comebacks, but they have also shown their youth in games like last week’s 7-2 loss to St. Cloud State. However, success this weekend over the No. 1 Minnesota Gophers could help define this young team.
